Garlic Bread

1 loaf good quality long French bread
4 to 6 large cloves garlic
1 cube butter, softened
1 large egg
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese or more
Dried oregano

Finely mince or press garlic and add to butter, mixing well. add
egg and half of Parmesan cheese and beat until creamy, adding more
cheese as necessary to bind the mixture into a homogeneous paste
make take less or more than the original cup. Split bread long
ways, place of cookie sheet and spread half of the cheese garlic
mixture on each half of bread and sprinkle with oregano. Bake in
a 350 oven until the top is brown and bubbly hot and well puffed
15 minutes. Keep a close eye as it burns easily. This is excellent
served with a dinner salad, or very simply sauced pasta.
